This year, Warwick Surf will be supporting Surfers Against Sewage through various charity events. Our very own charities rep Sadie Hallett will be organising all fundraising, so get in contact if you have any questions or ideas of how we can get further involved in saving the world!

Events calendar

Every year Warwick Surf put on numerous formal and informal charity events each with the aim of raising money or giving back to the community whilst, of course, having a laugh at the same time.

Recent years have seen Surf create wall art for a local school, plant trees in a Canley and get naked for a charity calendar (what rowers?)! This year, Connie hopes to spur the surf club into more mayhem with the following events:

Two Seasons Ball tuxedo12698546_10153339531621190_566843226838951404_o

Term 2 sees Warwick Surf getting sexy and heading to an exclusive venue with our buddies in Warwick Snow for the annual Two Seasons Ball! Expect dancing, dining and debauchery (of course, withholding the traditional ‘no-hands dessert’) alongside a charity raffle and the presentation of prestigious awards to club members; this is definitely not a night to miss!

Keep an eye out here for updates on date, venue, price and those all-important raffle prizes!

Just before we all head off for Christmas break, the Classical and Modern Dance Club put on the most fiercely fought competition of the year; CMD Dance for Sport Relief. Nearly every sports club at the university choreographs a dance routine and mounts the Copper Rooms stage with enough glitter and sequins to rival Strictly itself in order to show off their moves. Whether you shake it like Beyonce or awkwardly jerk like Swift, all members are invited to participate in the dance event of the year!

More information regarding rehearsals and choreography will be posted early Term 1.

Connie has a mission to get us doing something that is actually hard work for charity this year, and whilst we all love to get glittery in the form of dance competition or a ball involving copious amounts of wine and a chocolate fountain, Surf do not shy away from a challenge (you try getting 25 hungover twenty-somethings to get out of bed and clean a hostel!). Inspired by previous efforts in the charity Channel Swim relay, Surf could be utilising our acclimatisation to the January sea in an Open Water Swim to raise money and, obviously, keep our six packs in check. Keep your eyes peeled for more details coming soon!

Beach Cleans beach12080023_10204774137942534_5696750074797400760_o
What’s a better way to complete a wonderful weekend of banter and hoon than to pick up other people’s plastic bottles and Tesco bags? That’s right, there is none! When there is a few hours left of tour, not really time to get in the sea and you have a throbbing headache from the night before, Warwick Surf don the oversized marigolds and attempt to erase the damage that tumultuous amounts of fun inevitably leaves on the beach. Organised by Surfers Against Sewage and our charities rep, everyone is welcome to get involved!
